Food Service Worker for 2024-2025 school year
Qualifications:
- Experience in food preparation and serving.
- Perform work in a professional and organized manner.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Ability to acquire and maintain Food Handlers Certificate as required by Illinois Department of Public Health.
Reports To: Food Service Director
Job Goals: To provide assistance in the food service program by preparing and serving food to school children
and participate in cleaning of equipment and facilities.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Ability to understand and carry out basic kitchen instructions, work quickly and concisely under pressure.
- Serve food at the proper portions according to School Nutrition Association (SNA) & Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) nutrition division guidelines, while maintaining an awareness of cost control.
- Complies with all HACCP regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage.
- Assist in maintaining accurate production and temperature records and charts required by Illinois Department of Public Health and SNA/ ISBE.
- Assist in daily cleaning and sterilization of all dishes, silverware, and cooking utensils. Assist in major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment at the regularly scheduled intervals.
- Understand what is inclusive of a reimbursable meal.
- Have a working knowledge of point of sale computers.
- Attend in-service meetings (CEU’s) as scheduled by the Cafeteria Manager.
- Adhere to the uniform, meal & request off guidelines.
- Able to use food preparation tools and equipment, read recipe cards and instructions, hand tools or machines needed for your work
- Able to lift twenty (20) pounds unassisted and up to (40) or more pounds with assistance; frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds.
- Performs other duties as needed.
Terms of Employment: 176 day contract, 3-7 hours per day as necessary, hourly wage rate to be established by the Board of Education.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with
provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of
education support personnel.
