Part-Time Assistant Bookkeeper
8 hours, 2 or 3 days a week (Monday and Tuesday)
Qualifications:
- Associates degree or previous work experience is preferred.
- Strength in accounting procedures and a propensity for working with financial data.
- Strength and knowledge with payroll processing.
- Proficiency skills for computer applications (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Payroll Software, databases).
- A high degree of proficiency in keyboarding, operation of common office equipment and an excellent knowledge of office procedures.
- Previous experience as a bookkeeper or accountant or other alternatives as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Job Goal:
To assist the Accounting Coordinator in the administration of the District’s business affairs so as to provide the maximum services for the financial resources available.
Performance Responsibilities: Assist the Head Bookkeeper with the following duties as assigned.
- Maintain a complete and systematic set of records of all financial transactions of the District, according to state regulated accounting procedures.
- Record detail of school financial transactions in appropriate journals and subsidiary ledgers from such sources as requisitions, payroll records, etc...
- Code all accounts payable bills and determine their status for payment.
- Summarize and balance entries recorded in individual journals and ledgers.
- Trace errors and record adjustments to correct charges or credits posted in incorrect amounts.
- Compute and record all incoming receipt summaries.
- Serve as backup for payroll processes in the absence of the Head Bookkeeper.
- Keep Head Bookkeeper and Assistant Superintendent informed on all matters affecting the finances of the District and prepare fund balances as needed.
- Prepare bills for registration and make a list of past-due fees and lost textbooks.
- Bill student fees (January-June) for unpaid fees.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent or Head Bookkeeper.
